Frequently Asked Questions
Couples generally want to know if coaching really helps, how long it takes, and whether their situation is "bad enough" to need support. Others simply want reassurance that they're not alone in facing these struggles.
No. The aim isn't to make either person become someone they're not. A healthy relationship allows two people to remain themselves while genuinely meeting each other. You may discover things you want to change, but that's different from giving up who you are. The goal is greater understanding, connection and freedom within the relationship – not losing yourself to keep it.
Not sure your partner will want to do this? Let them read this answer. They may be worried they'll have to give something up too.
Not at all. Most couples wait far longer than they should before asking for help. Seeking support doesn't mean your relationship has failed. It usually means your relationship is important enough to fight for.
I hear this question almost every week. The honest answer is… I don't know. No ethical counsellor can promise to save every relationship.
What I can promise is to help you understand what's happening, identify what's keeping you stuck and give you the best opportunity to move forward. Many couples discover there is far more hope than they imagined.
This is more common than you might think. Sometimes one person is ready before the other. Sometimes people are nervous, sceptical or simply don't know what to expect.
If your partner isn't ready yet, get in touch anyway. We can discuss your situation and explore the best way forward.
No. Marriage counselling isn't about choosing sides. It's about understanding both perspectives and helping you move from blame to understanding.
My role isn't to decide who's right. It's to help both of you communicate in a healthier way.
There are no awkward silences. No judgement. No lectures. We talk. We identify patterns. We explore what's happening beneath the conflict. Most importantly, we begin working towards practical changes you can take into everyday life.
Every couple is different. Some need only a few sessions to get back on track. Others benefit from longer-term support. We'll review your progress together rather than asking you to commit to a fixed number of appointments.
Sometimes. Not pages of worksheets. Usually simple things designed to help you communicate differently between sessions. Real change happens at home, not just in my office.
That happens quite often. Relationships are rarely 50/50 all the time. My job is to create a space where both people feel heard and understood, while encouraging each of you to take responsibility for your own part in the relationship.
Many couples believe they've fallen out of love. Sometimes what's disappeared isn't love. It's connection. Those are not always the same thing.
Yes. Your privacy is extremely important. Anything we discuss remains confidential, except where I have a legal or ethical duty to act, such as concerns about serious harm or safeguarding. I'll explain this clearly before we begin.
Yes. Online sessions are available if they're more convenient for you or you live further away. Many couples find them just as effective as meeting in person.
You can find my current fees on the investment page. Your initial complimentary session is completely free, with no obligation to continue. Its purpose is simply to see whether we're the right fit for each other.
That's exactly what the complimentary session is for. I'll answer your questions honestly. If I don't believe I'm the right person to help, I'll tell you, and if appropriate, I'll point you towards someone who may be a better fit.
I don't work with everybody. And I think that's a good thing.
Simply book your complimentary session. We'll have a relaxed conversation about what's been happening and what you're hoping to achieve. No pressure. No obligation. Just an honest discussion about whether I can help.
Book Your Complimentary SessionPlease don't be. You're not the first couple to feel this way. You're not the only couple having these conversations. And you certainly won't be judged.
The hardest part for most people isn't the counselling. It's making the first move to reach out. You don't need to have all the answers before you book. That's what we're here to work through together.
So, let's begin.
In your complimentary session, you'll start to uncover the real patterns shaping your relationship, and we'll show you the proven path forward.
